THE Soil and Culture series of events at Bristol’s Create centre continues on Saturday 25th July, with a day focusing on living soil and healthy food.
Part of the continuing Soil and Culture programme of the Exeter-based Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World (CCANW), the Create series runs every weekend, with an exhibition that continues daily until 26th August.
Living Soil, Living Food, from 10am to 5pm, is one of a series of collaborations with Touchstone and Soil Sisters, including talks, films, workshops and delicious food. This event will focus on the importance of healthy soil in making healthy living foods. There will be a series of talks and discussions, and a brunch of local, seasonal and organic foods from 1 to 2pm.
Greencuisine Trust presents Grow, Cook, Share about engaging young children in gardening and cooking.
The afternoon workshop will look at cultural biodiversity with kimchi, gundra and other ferments from around the world. There will be tea and conversation inspired by the themes of Daphne Lambert’s forthcoming book Living Food: A Feast For Soil And Soul.
The Soil and Culture exhibitions include Young Shoots, documenting 12 Soil Culture residencies and a commission, with a new film by Zoe Young, Dirt Dialogues, posters by 36 international artists, a new geological map by Adam White and communal earth paintings by Peter Ward (also showing at White Moose).
