BATH Theatre Royal has announced a season of plays next summer, in which the actor will star in David Hare’s Grace Pervades, and will direct Harriet Walter and Gloria Obianyo in Shakespeare’s As You Like it.
Booking opens for both on Wednesday 27th March (if you are an Associate member) or, for Friends, it’s Friday 29th March.
Jeremy Herrin will direct the new David Hare play, on stage from 27th June to 19th July 2025. Ralph Fiennes will play the legendary actor Henry Irving (born 30 miles away from Bath at Keinton Mandeville in 1838) in the world premiere of David Hare’s new play, Grace Pervades.
Grace Pervades tells the extraordinary story of Irving and Ellen Terry, the greatest stars of the Victorian stage, and Ellen’s troubled and brilliant children – Edith Craig and Edward Gordon Craig – who made their own contributions to the development of British theatre.
From 15th August to 6th September, the season continues with Shakespeare’s timeless comedy, set in the Forest of Arden. Olivier award winner Dame Harriet Walter will play Jacques (deliverer of the famous Seven Ages of Man speech). One of the hottest young stars of stage and screen, Gloria Obianyo will play Rosalind.
For Rosalind and Orlando, it is love at first sight, but family feuds are destined to keep the would-be lovers apart. When Rosalind is banished from the court of her uncle Duke Frederick, she runs away with her cousin Celia to the forest, where they explore new identities and discover that the possibilities for love and connection are infinite.
