THERE’s just a handful of seats available at performances of A Christmas Carol – the Musical at Frome’s Merlin Theatre, starting on Friday 6th December.
After last year’s sell out production of ELF, the ambitious and enterprising Merlin Theatre Productions company has chosen the Broadway version of the Dickens classic for its 2024 show, and once again it is full of delights, bringing the technical skills and imagination of the company to the forefront.
This version was first seen at The Theatre in Madison Square in New York in 1994, and was a staple festive attraction in the Big Apple until 2003. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and a book by Mike Ockrent and Lynn Ahrens, this is a new look at the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge and his three Christmas moral visitations. Complete with the poor Cratchit family and their disabled son, memories of happier times – and of course the biggest turkey you ever saw – it’s a timeless reminder of what Christmas should be like.
At the time of writing there were still a few tickets for Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th at 11am, Sunday at 3pm and Wednesday 11th at 7pm. All other shows are sold out. Contact the Merlin for more information.
