TUCKED away in the windy lanes west of Wincanton, the new Piggery Barns at the Queens Arms at Corton Denham are the perfect base to explore the peaceful countryside of rural Dorset and South Somerset..
The newly converted accommodation in the former pig barns is a natural extension of the snout-to-tail ethos that lies at the heart of the Queens Arms’ award-winning menu.
The Piggery Barns are ideal for children of all ages and are also dog-friendly, offering a welcoming environment for family or friends. Each barn has three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, sleeping a maximum of eight people, as well as a utility room and a well-appointed open plan living area to bring the whole group together whether cooking, dining or putting their feet up for a well-earned rest.
With a contemporary, spacious design, each room is bathed in natural light and has doors opening out onto stunning views of Somerset’s rolling hills. Guests are only a small step away from the comfort of a private enclosed garden, complete with a patio for al fresco dining, and there is a wood burner in the living area for those cooler nights.
The Queens Arms is an ideal location for anyone looking to explore the West Country, with three World Heritage Sites – Stonehenge, the city of Bath and the Jurassic Coast – all within an hour’s drive away.
Closer to home, the historic town of Sherborne with its golden stone buildings and ancient Abbey is just a few miles up the road, and there is a great choice of walks mapped out by the owners, with hampers available from the pub’s kitchen.
The menus are built around local produce, much of it from the pub’s own kitchen garden and smallholding.
