Food for thought at Bath with Tim Spector

ONE of the most influential and high profile scientists in the country, Prof Tim Spector, is coming to Bath Forum on Tuesday 28th January for a give a talk, as a special guest of Bath Festivals.

Tim Spector, the author of bestselling books, including The Diet Myth, Spoon-Fed, Identically Different and Food for Life: Your Guide to the New Science of Eating Well, is at the forefront of a food revolution. His Bath talk will give the audience the chance to hear first-hand from the original pioneer of microbiome research and one of the top 100 most cited scientists in the world.

In his new book, The Food for Life Cookbook, a Sunday Times bestseller featuring 100 recipes, he offers clear answers in this definitive, easy-to-follow guide to the new science of eating well.

Tim Spector, is Professor of Epidemiology at King’s College, London and was honoured with an OBE for his work during the pandemic in the fight against Covid-19. He is the co-founder of ZOE, the science and nutrition company.
He has been at the forefront of discussions about health and diet, including the benefits of eating 30 different kinds of plant in our weekly food and drink intake, of the importance of a healthy gut and how diet can have a bigger impact on our health than our genes.

He has recently been named as one of the team investigating why there is a marked increase in cases of bowel cancer in people under 50 in the UK population.

Tim started cooking at a young age, enjoying his mother Juno’s lasagne at home and learning to cook Wiener schnitzel and apple strudel as a teenager working in an Austrian kitchen. As a young medic, he ate a typical junior doctor’s diet of snatched sandwiches and juices, not realising how bad they were for him nutritionally. It was only when he had a mini-stroke in his fifties that he was inspired to improve his own health outcomes by focussing his scientific research on the groundbreaking area of nutrition and gut microbiome. The Food For Life Cookbook takes the guidance and science of eating well and, in over 100 delicious recipes – in collaboration with ZOE’s nutritionists – shows just how simple and enjoyable it can be to adapt to a gut-friendly way of eating.

Discover how to transform your meals to support better health, longevity, and energy and hear Tim share his knowledge at this unique event. Tim’s approach is all about abundance, rather than cutting things out, and his mission is to help everyone make better food choices every day. Join us for this unique opportunity to hear directly from one of the foremost experts in nutrition and take home practical, inspiring advice for every day cooking, and a beautiful recipe book too.
