HIDDEN in a peaceful corner of south west Wiltshire, Pythouse Kitchen Garden is sometimes compared with the famous Petersham Nurseries at Richmond.
It’s not an unfair comparison – both are restaurants serving contemporary, seasonal and local food in beautiful gardens.
If you haven’t visited this lovely spot, at Hatch near Tisbury, it’s worth a visit, whether to buy local and season food in the shop, wander round the garden and enjoy a coffee or glass of wine, or go with friends for a leisurely meal in the conservatory restaurant, overlooking the garden.
Every Friday, there is a happy hour, with an invitation to enjoy cocktails at a two-for-one price and walk round the walled garden, before enjoying an imaginative three-course dinner.
The menu for Friday 7th August includes a starter of confit of home-grown carrots, Pythouse beetroots and goats cheese mousse, followed by seared hake with a spelt salad and garden greens. Dessert is a summery trio of home-made ice creams with lemon sorbet and chocolate coated brandy snaps.
