Here we go with Dolly

A MUSICAL celebration of the music of the one-and-only Dolly Parton comes to Bath Theatre Royal from Tuesday 5th to Saturday 9th November. The cast of Here You Come Again includes Tricia Paoluccio, who co-wrote the show, as Dolly, and Steven Webb as Kevin. The show includes many of Dolly’s biggest hits – Jolene, I Will Always Love You, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream, Here You Come Again and many more.

The visit to Bath is part of a nationwide tour for the show, following several successful runs across the United States, and prior to a London transfer.

For the first time ever, all of Dolly Parton’s biggest hits are brought together in this joyful and touching new musical, authorised by Dolly herself, which tells the story of a diehard fan whose imagined version of international icon Dolly Parton gets him through trying times.

Kevin has just separated from his long-time boyfriend, Jeremy, an investment banker. In the attic bedroom of his childhood home in Yorkshire, surrounded by precious belongings from his youth, he is reunited with a much-loved old record player and his cherished Dolly albums. He remembers how, in the hard times, those songs helped him through and now he counts on them to help him once again. With her wit, humour and charm, Dolly teaches him a whole lot about life, love and how to pull yourself up by your bootstraps, even if your bootstraps don’t have rhinestones!

Tricia Paoluccio made her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge, and has worked consistently in New York theatre on Broadway and off, in television and film. Her work spans playing Cressida in Sir Peter Hall’s Troilus and Cressida to co-starring in the inaugural production of Edward Albee’s Lady from Dubuque and playing Chava in David Leveaux’s Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof.

Steven Webb’s stage career began 30 years ago playing the title role in Sam Mendes’ production of Oliver! at the London Palladium. His wide-ranging stage and screen career has included Elder McKinley in the West End run of The Book of Mormon, Posner in The History Boys on UK tour from 2005 to 2007, I Want My Hat Back and On the Shore of the Wide World at the National Theatre and Frank ‘n’ Furter in The Rocky Horror Show on UK tour, including Bath in 2019.

The original American production of Here You Come Again was written by multi-Emmy award-winning comedy and songwriter Bruce Vilanch with Gabriel Barre, who also directs, and Tricia Paoluccio.
