Jeeves to the festive rescue

IF you really can’t hack the Behind You and Oh No She Isn’t Christmas entertainment predictability, Bath Theatre Royal’s Ustinov studio has the perfect amtidote to panto-mania with a new production of Jeeves Takes Charge, running from Friday 6th December to Saturday 4th January.

Sam Harrison plays all 22 roles in this clever solo retelling of PG Wodehouse’s classic comic tale. Directed by Hugh Wooldridge, the play brings to life two of the best-loved characters in comic literary history, Wodehouse’s Jeeves and Wooster.

Highlighted by The Guardian as one of the top 20 shows this Christmas, Jeeves Takes Charge sees the impeccably brilliant butler keeping himself in employment by ensuring his amiably goofy young master remains unmarried, with laugh-out-loud results.

West End, Chichester and RSC actor Sam Harrison plays all the characters – including Florence Craye, Gussie Fink-Nottle, Bingo Little, Uncle Willoughby, Aunt Dahlia and many more – in a tour-de-force performance, transporting audiences back to an age where work is unthinkable and keeping in with your relatives is of paramount importance!

Sam Harrison’s stage credits include Crazy For You at Chichester Festival Theatre and in the West End; Love Is Only Love at The Other Place and Chichester’s Minerva Theatre; Les Misérables in the West End and Eastward Ho! at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Adapted for the stage by Edward Duke and Hugh Wooldridge, the 2024 revival of Jeeves Takes Charge is produced by Theatre Royal Bath Productions.
