Three nominations for Salisbury pantomime

SLEEPING Beauty, the 2024 Wiltshire Creative pantomime at Salisbury Playhouse, has received three nominations for the Pantomime Awards 2025. The critically-acclaimed show (which had a five-star review in The Stage) has been nominated for Best Pantomime (500-900 seat venues) at the annual awards hosted by The UK Pantomime Association, with Katie Lias also receiving nods for Best Costume Design and Best Set Design.

Sleeping Beauty, written by Plested, Brown and Wilsher with direction by Ryan McBryde, ran at the Playhouse from 30th November 2024 to 12th January 2025 and was enjoyed by more than 24,500 people. Wiltshire Creative’s Christmas Appeal also enabled more than 800 young people and families to see the show, who would otherwise have been unable to attend.

The nominations continue Wiltshire Creative’s success in pantomime with the 2023 production of Dick Whittington (also written by Plested, Brown & Wilsher) receiving three nominations for Best Pantomime (500-900), Best Villain, and Best Contribution to Music.

Ryan McBryde said: “I am absolutely thrilled that our production of Sleeping Beauty has been nominated for three categories. This recognition is a testament to the incredible creativity, talent, and dedication of the creative team, outstanding acting ensemble and entire team at Salisbury Playhouse, who really do pull out all the stops each Christmas!”

Designer Katie Lias added: “Every single member of the Sleeping Beauty team – both the incredible in house staff and our amazing freelancers – put their absolute all in to helping to create something so special and it’s a real testament to this collective passion and effort.”

The writers were similarly thrilled: “We’d like to thank the fantastic cast and outstanding creative and technical teams who brought our script to life in the most joyful, bonkers and hilarious way!”
